Arsenal have completed the signing of 17-year-old left-back Elias Chatzitheodoridis following a trial at the club.  According to Greek sports news website On Volos, Chatzitheodoridis was splitting his time between his local club, Mas Kallitheakos, and Arsenal’s Elite Academy in Greece. He was then sent for a trial in North London by his coaches and spent time training with Arsenal’s youth team.
Arsenal’s Greek academy, located around 80km west of Athens, aims to recruit young talent in Greece and the Balkans. Chatzitheodoridis is the second Greek youngster to sign for Arsenal in recent weeks, with 16-year-old compatriot Mourgos Savvas, who is a central midfielder, joining the club at the end of last month. Both players have signed 2-year contracts.
While this may not be the confirmation that we have signed Cavani or Hulk that we are all dreaming of, it is always good to see Arsenal giving some young talents a chance. I have no doubt that Elias and Mourgos will continue their development in the youth team before attempting to break into the first-team in a few seasons.
