DE GEA TO STAY

Manchester United to double their keeper’s money in bid to convince him to stay Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is to be offered double his current wages in a bid to entice him to stay with the club.

The signing of free agent Victor Valdes has prompted speculation that the Red Devils are resigned to losing their current number one de Gea, with Real Madrid known to be keen on signing the Spaniard. To make matters worse, de Gea has just 18 months left on his contract at Old Trafford and United could soon be under pressure to sell him or risk losing him for nothing

de Gea is not believed to be set on a move to Real Madrid, but should an offer come in from his home city he could find it hard to resist. Madrid would offer him a bumper wage and the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Iker Casillas. If de Gea tied down the Madrid jersey with impressive performances, in all likelihood the
number one jersey of the Spanish national team would be his as well.

de Gea is ambitious and would know that if he spent the rest of his career at Real Madrid he would be in a position to win Champions League titles on numerous occasions. He will want assurances that the recent resurgence of Manchester United in the transfer market is not a one off and that the club have the ambition to return to the top of the game. That plus doublehis wages may be enough to see United hold on to their number one goalkeeper.
